PAY AS YOU THROW PROGRAM

  • What is it?

Pay as you throw (PAYT) is an option enacted by the Town of Jackson to encourage customers to throw away less trash (and hopefully recycle/reuse more) by either reducing the number of pickups and/or using smaller containers for collection.

  • Who can do it?

Residents within the Town of Jackson, city limits.

  • Do I have to participate in the program?

No! This is a completely optional program.

  • What are my options?

Options are as follows:

65 gallon can - twice per month

65 gallon can - weekly

65 gallon can - on call

95 gallon can - twice per month

95 gallon can - weekly

95 gallon can - on call

Prices are available upon request, please call or email.

  • What are the rules for the program?

You are required to have a bear-resistant trash can in either size, 65 or 95 gallon. Contact us or JH Bear Solutions at 307-274-8391 and they can help provide you with a can. You must use a bear-resistant can! No exceptions.

You cannot have any extra garbage outside of your trash can.

Your can must be fully closed and locked. The can cannot be overfilled.

If you do not follow these rules, you will receive 3 written notices and then upon the next violation you will be automatically bumped up to the next size or service frequency.

Updated regulations in Jackson and Teton County now require certain areas to use a certified bear-resistant garbage can. We offer a standard, brown 95 gallon garbage for use in areas that are not considered to be in a conflict zone, and we offer Kodiak and Toter branded bear-resistant 95 gallon garbage cans to our customers that are within a bear-conflict zone (can type limited to availability). Bear zones are enforced county-wide outside of city limits, and in certain zones within the Town of Jackson.
